NFL Football NFC Championship

Minnesota Vikings @ Philadelphia Eagles
1st Quarter

The Minnesota Vikings received the kickoff to start the game.  The Vikings offense looked good on their first drive moving the ball 75 yards down field ending with a Keenum TD pass to Rudolph.  Vikings 7 Philadelphia 0

The Eagles were unable to counter with their first possession of the game.  The Vikings were set up with a third and eight and Keenum, pressured by Chris Long threw a pick 6.  Vikings 7 Philadelphia 7.

After Minnesota was unable to sustain their drive they punted back to Philadelphia who had a drive of 12 plays 75 yards in 6:20, they capped the drive off with a 11 yard Blount TD.  Minnesota 7 – Philadelphia 14

End of 1st Quarter – Minnesota 7 – Philadelphia 14

2nd Quarter

Minnesota took over at their own 25 after the touch back.  Philadelphia’s defense picked up the pressure and Keenum could not convert on a third and two.  The Vikings had to punt the ball away.  The Vikings could not stop the Eagles on a 3rd and 8 and the drive continued.  Nick Foles and the Eagles seemed to be picking up momentum until Foles took a sack on third down setting up a 4th & 13, Eagles punted away to the Vikings.   Keenum threw a couple completions for first downs, at that point Keenum was 8/14 98 yards 1 TD 1 Int.  The Vikings picked up 4 first downs, however the Philadelphia defense stepped up and caused a Keenum fumble as he was throwing a pass.  Chris Long was credited with the fumble, that was the Vikings second turnover of the game.  With less than 2:00 minutes remaining in the 2nd quarter the Philadelphia Eagles looked to put more points on the board.  With what looked to be a sure sack Nick Foles was able to toss a 53 yard TD pass to former Chicago Bear Alshon Jeffery.  Minnesota 7 – Philadelphia 21.  Vikings could not have thought it could get any worse as the Eagles forced a punt and then were able to get down field and put 3 more points on the board as the 1st half came to a close.  Minnesota 7 Philadelphia 24

3rd Quarter

The second half kicked off with Philadelphia receiving the kick and starting at their own 25.  It seemed that the Vikings had no answer for the Eagle offense.  With the ball on the Vikings 41 yard line, Foles connected with  Smith on a Flea Flicker play.  The drive lasted 4:55, 8 plays for 75 yards. Minnestoa 7 Philadelphia 31

Trying to keep hope alive the Vikings were able sustain a nice drive of their own, that resulted in no points.  The Eagles took possession of the ball on their own 8 yard line.  Again the Eagles were able to move the ball time after time, Nick Foles had thrown for 300 plus yards near the end of the 3rd quarter with a 134.8 rating.  I found myself wanting the game to end quickly as it appeared the Vikings just did not have enough on this night.  The Eagles were definitely looking like the better team.

End of 3rd Quarter Vikings 7 Eagles 31

4th Quarter

Eagles started the 4th quarter threatening with the ball 2nd and goal.  Confidence was running high as Nick Foles threw another TD to Alshon Jeffery.  Vikings 7 – Eagles 38

As the fourth quarter began to wind down, neither team was able to put any points on the board, or in Philadelphia’s case, didn’t want to keep scoring.

Final Vikings 7 – Eagles 38
