LA Rams @ Chicago Bears 12/09/2018

The (11-1) Rams marched into Soldier Field to take on the Chicago Bears (8-4) in what many thought to be a test for the Chicago Bears. M. Trubisky started for the Bears after missing the last two games due to a shoulder injury.

The Rams won the toss and deferred the ball until the second half. One of the questions that was answered right away was would Trubisky run the ball when he had no passing options. Right out of the gate Trubisky showed that he was more than willing to run picking up 9 plus yards on two QB scrambles. The drive for the Bears ended as Trubisky threw an interception to Peters who returned the ball 48 yards deep inside Bear territory. The Bears were able to stop a TD, allowing a FG off the turnover. 27 yard field goal was good. Rams 3 Bears 0

The Bears 2nd possession of the game looked promising as the Bears used T. Cohen much of the drive. The Bears attempted a 39 yard field goal that was successful. Rams 3 Bears 3

End of First Quarter Rams 3 Bears 3

The Bears looked to threaten, after a R. Smith interception at the Ram 26. The Bears were in business. After the turnover the Bears had the ball at the Ram 4 yard line. The Bears were unable to punch it in as the offense was flagged on a couple of plays. 31 yard field goal was good. Rams 3 Bears 6

The Rams attempted a 50 yard field goal with 4:17 left in the 2nd quarter. Field Goal was good Rams 6 Bears 6

After a second M. Trubisky interception the Rams looked to end the half with a score. The Bears ended the half as Goff threw an interception at the goal line, ending the first half.

End of 1st Half Rams 6 Bears 6

M. Trubisky 9/20 passing, 59 yards, 2ints, 23 yards rushing.
Rams Offense: 98 Total Yards (Tied for fewest in a 1st half under Sean McVay)

The Rams received the 2nd half punt. The Bears defense came out hot as they forced a safety putting 2 points on the board sacking Goff in the end zone (credit Goldman for the sack). Rams 6 Bears 8

After the safety the Bears received possession and used a heavy dose of inside running using Howard and then when least expect using T. Cohen for a nice run. The offense looked to be firing on all cylinders as Trubisky and the Bears moved the ball inside the Ram 5 yard line to the 2. Bears facing a 3rd and goal brought in A. Hicks and a host of other players. Reminiscent of the previous week in which A. Hicks rand in a TD. One could not help but wonder that A Hicks was the decoy, using a play action play Trubisky hit B. Sowell for a TD. XP was good. Rams 6 Bears 15

Things were going well for the Bear offense until M. Trubisky threw another interception (3rd of the game). Rams took over at the Bear 26 yard line. However, in Bear fashion, the Bears took the ball right back as Kyle fuller intercepted a Goff pass on the next play. The Bears were unable to put points on the board after the TO and punted the ball away in which the Rams took over at their own 5.

End of 3rd Quarter Rams 6 Bears 15

The Rams started the 4th quarter using a heavy dose of T. Gurley up the middle, something that seemed to be non existent the whole game. The Rams moved the ball consistently during the drive however the Bears defense locked down an only allowed a FG attempt. The 40 yard field goal was no goal as it hit the right upright. Rams 6 Bears 15

With four and half minutes left in the game the Bears looked to have secured the victory after a A. Hicks sack that turned the ball over to the Bears, loss of downs. The Bears looked to milk the clock as they kept the ball on the ground. Facing a 4th and 4 the Bears attempted a 38 yard field goal. Field goal was no good. Rams 6 Bears 15

The Bears sealed the game with an Amukamara interception. The Bears defense was outstanding!!!
