Bears Win, Luck Retires

BEARS 27 @ COLTS 17

I know it is only pre season but there was reason to get a little excited about how this game ended for the Bears.  It is always good to walk away with a victory (I know it’s only pre season)  but the Bears’ defense gave us fans a reason to get excited about the upcoming season.  We all know how good the Defense was last year but this year it appears the Bears can be an even better defense.

Coach Matt Nagy did not play any of his starters as expected.  The offense was led by Chase Daniel and we can say that his performance was not a stellar one.  Chase went 3-9 for 21 yards.  Chase has not thrown a TD in any of his pre season appearances this year but I still believe Chase is a decent quarter-back, last season he filled in for Trubisky as well as you can expect from the back up.  The offensive line was not that impressive either as they have allowed 10 sacks in three games.  Whatever the case it appears that Chase Daniel will be the number two QB.

Besides the Defense, there was a great confidence booster added to the special teams squad after Eddie Piniero connected on a 58 yard field-goal.  I hope the Bears have found themselves a kicker, after last years fiasco, I think everyone in Chicago has a new respect for the kicker position.

The Bears built a reputation during the Lovie Smith years for their ability to take the ball away from opposing teams.  The Bears were able to add three more take aways to their total this pre season (8).

Oh yeah, in case you have not heard, Andrew Luck has called it a career and announced his retirement.
